Cinnamon Raisin French Toast

After a long day in front of the computer I felt like baking something. I wanted something sweet but also something that would make the house smell like home. I wasn’t sure what to make but decided on cinnamon raisin bread which will become cinnamon raisin French toast.  Sounds good to me!!!!! Get to have a treat tonight and a great breakfast in the morning. Talk about killing two birds with one stone. OUCH! That doesn’t sound too good, does it? Anyways, here is the recipe for the bread.

Cinnamon Raisin Bread

3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup warm water
2 1/4 tsp. yeast
2 eggs
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup softened butter
1/2 cup raisins
4-5 cups all-purpose flour

Filling:
1 tablespoons milk
3/8 cup white sugar
1 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1 tablespoons butter, melted

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix in eggs, sugar, butter, salt, and raisins. Add warmed milk. Knead. Place in a buttered bowl, turn, and rise for 2 hours. Roll out and brush with milk. Spread cinnamon mix on top and roll. Place in a greased bread pan and let rise for 1 hr. Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes.

French Toast

2 eggs
1/8 cup milk

Mix together. Dip bread in egg mixture. Heat griddle. Lightly grease the griddle. Place the bread on the pan and cook til lightly browned. Serve with real maple syrup.
