25 Things About…
If any of my readers are Facebook users than they are familiar with the 25 Things About Me fad that is occuring. Not an easy thing to accomplish. My daughter in law had it right when she started it with 16 things. That was almost doable. 25? Good luck with that. But, it got me thinking. I figure I would have no trouble with 25 Things About Food, so here they are:
1. I love food. From having a food website it kind of goes without saying, do ya think?
2. I hate that saying “Ya think?” but use it when I am irritated or in an annoying mood cuz I figure it annoys me so why not everyone else. (OOPS, this wasn’t about food, sorry, I’ll try to stay on track.)
3. Pasta should always be cooked to the al dente stage, otherwise it is mush and a waste.
4. Chocolate is delicious any time of day, night, week, month, season, and year as long as it is of high quality.
5. Fish baked with salsa on it is very flavorful and moist. It’s really the only way I love fish.
6. I don’t enjoy dieting, after all who does, so I really don’t diet, I try to eat in moderation so I don’t gain weight and exercise to keep healthy. Food is way too important to be denied.
7. (I am already tiring of this so we’ll see how many more I can complete) Cortland apples are my favorite. There are many orchards that have figured out the way to keep them crisp all year long. They are great for all types of baking but my favorite way to enjoy them is eating them fresh!
8. Field greens blended with baby spinach, fresh strawberries, feta cheese, sweet onion, edmarme, and raspberry walnut vinaigrette makes a flavorful salad.
9. Butter is better than margarine: use less and exercise to keep your heart healthy.
10. If you love what you do, you’ll be very successful at it! My son Dan has proven this fact: he has loved food since he was a kid and now has a great website, CookManFood. He works very hard in everything he does and has found the key to success: love what you do! My son Mike, of Freeman Social, has also proven this fact. Steve has too!
11. Kids eat way too much junk food and sugared drinks and don’t get enough fresh fruits and vegetables. By the way, fresh air would help them too!
12. Honey is great for a sore throat. At the first sign of scratchiness I have a tsp. of local honey. Important fact: Never give honey to babies!
13. I love ice cream. Favorite: Purple Cow Fact: Eat too much, you become what you eat!
14. Cinnamon is known to have many health benefits. If this is true, great! If not, it still tastes good, especially when sprinkled on an apple.
15. Crepes are better tasting than pancakes if made correctly and served with pure maple syrup.
16. My husband can eat everything he wants and not gain any weight. Lucky, ya think? (see # 2).
17. Why are eggs so bad for you and chicken so healthy? Hmm. Wonder which one came first…
18. Someone once told me that the sure way to make hot tea bitter is to squeeze the bag.
19. Soaking a grapefruit makes it easier to peel. I tried this and it really does work!
20. My favorite dessert is marble cake with mocha frosting. Yum.
21. One of my favorite things to do to relax is sit on my swing with a hot cup of tea.
22. Brownies are always best undercooked and with a handful of chocolate chips tossed on top before baking. Sprinkle brownies with confectioner’s sugar to make them more appealing.
23. Penuche fudge is the best fudge made.
24. I love zucchini, peppers, garlic, onions, and tomatoes all cooked together. This mix is the perfect accompaniment for grilled chicken and rice pilaf!
25. I wish I could make a perfect pie crust like my mother. Unbelievable how she do. Not in my genes to do that!
Whoa! I succeeded in writing down 25 things about food and me, all inter mingled and possible the most boring of all pages I have written.
I agree with so many of these. If it were on my blog though, I would have much more bacon related food items. #3, #7,#12, #15, #20, #22, #23, and how does grandma make her pie crust?
Au contraire, the bacon is the reason for this website!
